505 Games is set to release a new story-driven game on August 31 called Last Day of June, which happens to be tomorrow depending on when you’re reading this post. The game is set in a beautifully designed world with intoxicating watercolor-style visuals, and it’s heavy on narrative over traditional gameplay tropes. It’s more like a What Remains of Edith Finch in terms of the gameplay, so you mostly complete basic QTE interactions to progress the tale along.

At its core this game is all about the experiences of love and loss that a person will encounter in their lifetime. Even though it’s set in a majestic looking world, the events you take part in are rather depressing, but for the sake of spoilers I’ll leave my description at that.

In an effort to show off what this game offers in terms of its experience and gameplay, I’ve recorded its prologue chapter with some commentary to guide you through the world that 505 Games has created. I would’t consider the video to have any SPOILERS, but if you want a fresh perspective I’d still avoid watching it.

Last Day of June is set to release for PC and PS4 on August 31!
