It’s that time of year again when Saturdays have more meaning to them than just a day to recover from Friday night’s hangover you lush. The college football season is right around the corner! I would have to say the end of August is one of my favorite sports times of the year. This is because I know that the manliest sport in all the land is on the verge of coming back, and I don’t have to pretend other sports like soccer are entertaining.
USA Today has set the fates of a a few select teams in motion today, with their initial crack at the top 25 teams in college football. Since the NCAA can’t figure out a way to decide a true national champion, the preseason rankings more or less decide a team’s destiny. If your team is ranked in the top 2 to start the season, and they win all of their games, they’re going to the BCS Championship. It’s a done deal, so these rankings are huge.
I’m especially happy to see my Buckeyes nestled in at the 2 spot, right behind Alabama. This almost solidifies their chances to go to another BCS championship game, as long as they don’t choke during the regular season, or have any of their star players kill, mame, or rape somebody. I like their chances, but with T.P. behind center I’m always going to be nervous. For the complete listing of the top 10 take a look after the break. You’ve been ready for another awesome fall of football goodness…
