Apparently Alden Ehrenreich Is Signed On to Play Han Solo in Two More Star Wars Films

Based on an interview with Esquire, it appears that Alden Ehrenreich is signed to play Han Solo in at least two more movies after Solo: A Star Wars Story comes out. This is fairly shocking news considering all of the rumors about his performance as Han in Solo being not up to par, which required intervention with an acting coach. It’s also a shock because all Disney has led us to believe is that Solo is a stand alone flick and not part of a larger trilogy, but that may not be the case based on what Alden Ehrenreich told Esquire.

Here’s a summary of the exchange according to Alex Pappademas:

He knows what he’s getting into. It’s a deeper commitment than just one movie. Even Ford couldn’t quit after just one. I ask Ehrenreich how many he’s signed up for. “Three,” he says, then flinches, understanding he may have just created a disturbance in the Force. “I don’t know if that’s officially, uh, public. But—yeah.” Anyway: Between auditions for Solo, Ehrenreich took a trip out to Death Valley. “I stayed in, like, a high-end tepee, which you can rent out there,” he says. “I’m making myself sound a lot more rugged than I actually am. I’m also getting green juices delivered to the tepee.”

I’m all for more Star Wars movies, but my excitement in a potential Solo trilogy starring Alden completely hinges on how I feel about Solo. If that movie is solid and Alden comes off capably as Han, then bring on more Alden as Han, but if it is subpar, I hope Disney makes the right call and aborts any additional films. I guess we will find out in just about a month, because Solo is four weeks away!
