Ascendant is an indie game, and it shows with it’s cool original art style that looks like something out of a story book. Unfortunately, at this point in time, that’s just not enough to make the game good, and it already looks like it plays kind of choppy.

The cinematic parts in the trailer look really cool, the character models and spells look pretty cool, but, man is the market over saturated with these games. It looks like it’s got a slight chance of being good, but only if the choppiness is fixed and doesn’t get in the way of the game being fun. If I’ve learned anything from playing a lot of Indie games in 2014/2015, that more often than not, they’re just not that good and are little more than iPhone games. Some are pretty good, but for the most part, I think the originality is running a bit low in the genre at the moment.
