One of the great assets that Disney acquired when they purchased Lucasfilm was the heralded visual effects company, Industrial Light & Magic. Originally founded by George Lucas and boasting a resume that is ridiculous, ILM now does work for Marvel Studios which includes the 2014 hit, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Now available is a peek behind the curtain for a sample of the making of the visual effects for Winter Soldier.

There’s impressive action sets plus big toys and explosions, but perhaps the most interesting portion is seeing the process for Black Widow’s reveal. Requiring both actresses to film the scene along with many middle men, the surprise twist actually has lots of moving parts. Now knowing what went into that key scene makes it even more impressive.

Be sure to check out the ILMVisualFX YouTube channel for even more peeks behind the curtain.
