HBO has finally dropped a real deal official length trailer for the eighth season of Game of Thrones, and it kept my body in a chilled state for its entire 2-minute runtime.
The trailer is a perfect trailer in the sense that it manages to excite your senses on all levels, yet it doesn’t reveal a damn thing plot wise outside of sweeping hints at big moments we already know are coming. It really zeroes in on the battle between the Night King and Jon and Dany’s forces at Winterfell. We definitely got hints of the Battle of Winterfell in the trailer, and plenty of dragons too, but in terms of any solid plot reveals, there wasn’t much to see, but that’s ok.
I hate when trailers essentially tell the main narrative in summary form, so I do appreciate that this trailer shows a lot, without really showing anything at all. I’m sure there are hidden meanings in a few of the scenes, but my mind and body were too focused on just soaking it all in to fully interpret the minutia, so I’m sure the Thrones Time team will fire up the mics this week to break it down in a more in-depth manner.
