Over the past two days Star Wars fans have gotten the best look at Supreme Leader Snoke to date, as well as confirmation from Rian Johnson on who the last Jedi actually is.
The Snoke image comes from Topps, and features the mysterious evil character for the first time in the flesh. We’ve seen his full appearance in the form of toys and other concept art, but this is the first time we get to see him in his full on CGI flesh. This image if anything else leads me to believe that Snoke is a humanoid, but not a human. His skull is just too misshapen to be a human, and his other facial features aren’t quite human-like. Now the deformation of his face and head may be due to his injuries, but his skull just looks too bulbous to be a typical Star Wars human character.
If you were wondering still who the last Jedi is in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson confirmed exactly who it refers to. It’s Luke Skywalker, so quit reading between the lines. While speaking to the New York Times Rian said, “It’s in the opening crawl of The Force Awakens. Luke Skywalker, right now, is the last Jedi. There’s always wiggle room in these movies — everything is from a certain point of view — but coming into our story, he is the actual last of the Jedi. And he’s removed himself and is alone on this island, for reasons unknown.”
I’d say that confirms it, but I’m sure small factions of speculators won’t buy it quite yet. If you don’t believe the Director, then you will find out for sure on December 15.
