Sectoid from The Bureau

2K has dropped a heavy helping of new screenshots for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, which is a prequel of sorts for Firaxis’ turn-based strategy franchise.

Rather than implementing the top down approach of the previous XCOM games, The Bureau will employ a new third person shooter view mixed with squad based combat. The gameplay has been described as being similar to controlling a squad in the Mass Effect franchise. Essentially, you dictate what your AI companions do, be it attack, defense, etc.

To get an idea of what this game will look like you can check out a massive dose of new screenshots that 2K put out for the month of July after the break.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified hits retail on August 20, 2013 in the US, and on August 23, 2013 in Europe for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 platforms.
