Big Surprise iPad 2 Launches March 11 With a White Option

Apple officially debuted their iPad follow-up to the public today, and considering all of the leaks surrounding this device there really is nothing new to report besides the release date.  Apple will be letting the sexier version of the iPad loose on 3.11.2011.  You can pre-order it here, or if you prefer to buy it at an Apple store you’ll have to wait until 5PM on 3.11.11.  I don’t know why that rule is in place, but it is what it is, so if you want an iPad 2 pronto you better pre-order it.

There were a few more technical specs released about the iPad 2, which you can look at on Apple’s site. But really most of the tech will be the same as the original iPad outside of a new dual-core A5 processor, and a front facing camera for FaceTime.  Oddly enough there is still no USB port, and the display is remaining at the same resolution as the OG Pad.  Sure the iPad 2 is 33% thinner and 15% lighter, but wouldn’t you rather have a built-in USB port and a higher resolution screen as a trade off?

Honestly, I’m not overly impressed at all.  I’m pretty sure I’ll most definitely be looking closer at Android based tabs now that the iPad 2 has been fully revealed.  I’m sure it will continue to be an amazing piece of technology and Apple will more than likely sell millions of them, but I want something completely new.  Who gives a sh*t about a white colored model and smaller dimensions?  I sure as hell don’t.  I’d rather have a complete portable device that works with Flash, has a USB port, and a higher resolution screen.  A slot for removable memory would be nice as well.

If you want to get a look at the iPad 2 go ahead and click on this link to watch it on Apple’s site.  Surprisingly enough they won’t let me embed it, commies! Hey, at least the new smart cover for the iPad 2 is pretty revolutionary!  That thing is definitely a must buy and other tablet manufacturers should take note of it.  You’ve thought that this device would be more exciting…
