Black Bun Burgers, Maul Drinking Tea, Must be Time for a Star Wars Movie..

Like a bat out of Hell the Lucasfilm marketing machine is in full action cross promoting the launch of The Phantom Menace in 3D with some odd product partnerships.  It never ceases to amaze me with how far Lucas and Co. will go to sell a few tickets to a movie.  In preparation for February’s 3D release of TPM many new commercials and products will be featured with the Star Wars logo in tow.  I’m not talking sh*tty little Happy Meal toys or other trinkets like that either.

For example, there’s a French burger chain called Quick (f*cking brilliant name for a fast food chain BTW) that is offering a Darth Vader burger complete with AIDS infested looking black bun, and a Jedi Burger that looks like it has marshmallows on it for toppings.  I’ll be honest with you though, I’d be lying if I said that I wouldn’t like to try a black bun burger.  Even though it looks like a science experiment gone wrong I still would like to bit into a Vader burger.  Besides, how awesome would it be to walk into McDonald’s and say, “Ya I’ll have a Vader burger with a side of fries and be snappy before I force choke you”?

Vader Burger = Win

If the Star Wars burgers weren’t odd enough for you there’s also a new Brisk tea commercial featuring Darth Maul and Yoda in claymation form.  I absolutely adore the look of these little tea drinkers, and for a movie tie-in commercial it was actually pretty clever, but it begs the question: Does Lucasfilm have any shame?  As a long time fan and collector that’s an easy answer, NO!  George has been licensing the sh*t out of his Star Wars baby since the 70’s, so the fact that he allows one of his baddest a*s characters to get made a fool of in an iced tea commercial only goes to show that he’s going to squeeze every last dime out of his creation before he dies.

You know what?  More power to him, but I still don’t have to like what he did with the prequels!  Check out the Brisk commercial below featuring Maul and Yoda.  You’ve been wishing they’d sell the Yoda and Maul figures used in the Brisk spot…
