Bungie Dev Insights: Exploring Darker Narratives

Destiny 2 has certainly taken a darker turn in recent months, and I think that’s a good thing and a bad thing. I think that the game having a darker narrative, and subverting expectations by killing off characters that once seemed invincible (or too likable to kill) is a bold move.

Cayde was just about the only likable character in the whole series, because everyone else is little more than a wooden board. That’s one of the things that drove me away from the series is that I can’t get behind anyone, nobody is likable. I have no favorite Destiny character, and I know that some people do, that’s good for them, but I do not. I mean hey, maybe I’m wrong and this will be awesome, because the series has always had potential. I never thought that the mechanics of the game were too bad, the shooting is satisfying, but barely anything else is, they really need to pull something crazy out of their asses for this.
