Bungie Tempts Fate and Signs Up With Activision

Bungie, the studio made famous for creating the Halo franchise, has just announced that they’ve signed an exclusive 10 year deal with Activision to publish their new “next big action game universe.”  OK, everyone let out a big, “WTF!!”  They’ve just signed up with the Devil who effectively killed off Infinity Ward, the studio that created the Call of Duty franchise.  This is a surprising move considering the negative view most gamers have of Activision, and how how Bungie seems to be a studio for the people.

Fear not though, this deal doesn’t give Activision any control over Bungie as a studio, so we shouldn’t see any nonsense like what happened to IW.  It only gives them publishing rights to distribute this yet unnamed new action franchise that Bungie is developing.  I guess the days of Bungie games only being on the Xbox are over.  You’ll never see Halo on any other console, but their new title is fair game for all.

I guess you can’t blame Bungie for trying to reach a broader audience, but it’s a shame they signed up with a publisher that doesn’t have the best rep right now.  I guess we’ll have to see what the future holds for BungiVision and their new title which has no name.  Money does rule the world.  You’ve been sold out…
