Treyarch’s first DLC pack for the blockbuster shooter Call of Duty Black Ops 3 has been officially announced to arrive on PS4 consoles come February 2, 2016.
Four new multiplayer maps will be joining Der Eisendrache, the first chapter of Call of Duty Black Ops 3‘s Zombies adventure mode, as the main content for the DLC pack. Among the four new map arrivals, one is a re-imagining of popular Black Ops 2 map. Each one holds true to Treyarch’s tried and true three-lane map mechanic. Here’s a breakdown:
- Gauntlet: A military training facility with three different environments including a widespread jungle, a sub-zero arctic zone, and a rainy cityscape.
- Splash: An abandoned water theme park utilizing water slides, a pirate ship, and a lazy river to promote underwater engagements.
- Rise: A snowy construction facility in the outskirts of Zurich serving as a massive subterranean research campus.
- Skyjacked: A familiar map from Black Ops 2 (Hijacked), this one’s set in the sky above Zurich.
The new Zombies mode follows Richtofen, Nicolai, Takeo, and Dempsey on an epic journey into a medieval castle. This eerie atmosphere is exacerbated by massive deposits of Element 115 littered around the location, a recent discovery that is sure to lead to a string of plot twists and changing gameplay elements.
From the looks of things, purchasing the Season Pass for Call of Duty Black Ops 3 for $49.99 might be the way to go. If you’re not in it for the long haul, however, Awakening can be purchased alone for $14.99.
Unfortunately, Xbox One owners will have to wait a while longer.
