Lucasfilm and Disney just announced that a live action Cassian Andor series will be hitting Disney’s new streaming platform, which also got a name today in the form of Disney+.
This will be Disney’s second live action series for their streaming platform as it joins Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian. The series will feature Cassian Andor from Rogue One, and the timeframe it will cover will take place before Rogue One. This means we will more than likely see his first meeting with K2, as well as more of his spy work for the Rebellion. We should also get to see how the Rebellion looked and operated during its formative years, which is a period we’ve touched on a bit in Star Wars Rebels. It will begin filming early in 2019.
To me this is fantastic news, and I hope more keeps coming. It’s clear now that Disney is going ALL IN on Disney+ thanks to its live action Marvel and Star Wars series, so it’s going to be nearly impossible to not subscribe to it if you’re a Marvel or Star Wars fan. The Disney+ service should launch towards the end of 2019.
