CBS Wins Rights for ‘Training Day’ Drama

CBS has won the network battle of the TV drama Training Day based on the 2001 film by the same name. The film starred Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, the former as an experienced LAPD narcotics detective who trains the latter on his first day. Over the next 24 hours, Hawke discovers the corruptness of his acclaimed partner as they grind their way through the streets of Los Angeles.

The series adaptation comes from Antoine Fuqua (who directed the film) who teams up with Warner Bros. TV and Jerry Bruckheimer Television to bring the hit film to the small screen. Fuqua will be an executive producer and will direct the pilot episode. The series is expected to take place 15 years after the film and focus on the relationship between the two cops.
