Two of the biggest franchises to come out of the 1980’s were the Ghostbusters and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, both of which coincidentally began in 1984. Using the ancient sorcery that is mathematics, that would make 2014 the 30th anniversary of both of these childhood favorites of Gen Y/X, and IDW has announced a completely bossanova four-issue mini-series crossover simply titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters.

In the press release from IDW, co-writer Tom Waltz said, “this is an idea that Erik, series editor Bobby Curnow, and I have bounced off each other for quite a while, and being as deeply entrenched in both properties as the three of us are gives us a unique perspective on how to bring them together. And what better time to do it than during the combined 30th year anniversary celebration?”

No other details have been released by IDW, except that our nostalgia meters will completely go off the charts when IDW Publishing begins crossing the streams. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters #1 is scheduled to release onto stands and into our childhood hearts on October 2014.

“Making you a better geek, one post at a time!”
