Dark Souls III is one of the biggest, most expansive, haunting, beautiful, and challenging RPGs to come out this year, and does the From Software “thing” really well. I can’t say exactly what that “thing” is, but it’s just that feeling that you get when you play one of their games, and it’s a good feeling. The game has done incredibly well thus far, but it’s now time for the DLC to add a heaping helping of extra content to the game. The Ashes of Ariandel DLC has already been shown off, but now we’re getting a look at the PVP aspect of the game. This kind of surprised me because I don’t remember the last time I saw an official trail from Bandai touting anything about the PVP in a Souls game. I suppose they are finally realizing what a fantastic part of the game it is (when connections aren’t bad, that is, then it’s just aggravating).
The new PVP will add a sort of team mode where you and a couple friends can now go head-on with a few strangers online to see who has the better Souls 3 posse. I couldn’t quite make out if there was friendly fire enabled, but boy, wouldn’t that be a blast to just ream your best-friend out for accidentally killing you? I’m sure it will just be something that you can turn on and off, but the though it pretty amusing at how many friendships will be put in jeopardy thanks to this new mode. Check out the trailer above and let us know what you think!
