It’s already known that DC has Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and a Justice League movie in the works, but if this report is correct, then DC could have much more up their sleeve. According to Nikki Finke, a former reporter for Deadline, DC intends to reveal plans for at least seven movies at the upcoming Comic Con next month. Finke recently launched her own site after leaving Deadline and only releases this scoop now because of a non-competition clause. If her report is true, then the future of the DC movie universe could look like this:

  • May 2016 – Batman v Superman
  • July 2016 – Shazam
  • Xmas 2016 – Sandman
  • May 2017 – Justice League
  • July 2017 – Wonder Woman
  • Xmas 2017 – Flash and Green Lantern team-up
  • May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2

The scoop also goes on to say that there were plans for a Metal Men movie and a Suicide Squad movie but those didn’t come to fruition on the schedule. Also, the apparent cause of the delay in production for Batman v. Superman was not related to the movie itself but was caused by contract negotiations because, similar to the cameos in The Avengers, there will be a lot of cameos in the scheduled films and the problems revolved around negotiations for the appearances. Though not scheduled for his own film, Aquaman will be in the Justice League movie.

Some of the movies on the schedule are slam dunks, characters that fans have been waiting to see a great, feature length treatment of such as Wonder Woman and the Flash. It’s curious to see that the Green Lantern isn’t getting his own movie, most likely because of bad association with the previous attempt in 2011 with Ryan Reynolds (who would not play the Green Lantern in future films, which might mean they could use John Stewart as GL). Sandman and Shazam are interesting choices in this lineup, as those don’t have the widespread recognition as the other DC mainstays.
