Dead Island Getting Official iOS App for Completionists

[UPDATE] Dead Island, the highly anticipated zombie game from Deep Silver, will be getting its very own iOS app this Tuesday when the game releases.  The official app will cost $2.99, and will give gamers looking to get every collectible in the game (read cheve/trophy whores) an interactive map to easily find over 150 hidden items.  The app will provide gamers with screenshots of where to find each collectible, as well as a check list to keep track of what still needs to be found.  I’m not a big fan of the price, but I think the idea of providing a digital companion to a game like this is tits.  I’m always struggling to find the most efficient way to manage my achievement progress in a game, so I may have to break the bank and give the Dead Island Map App a go.  Check out what it looks like below.  You’ve been ready to play this game ever since its ground breaking debut trailer…

[UPDATE] I’ve had the chance to download this app to my iPad, and it’s everything you’d want a map app to be.  It takes all the guesswork out of finding the 120 collectibles, and the ability to check off your progress is a life saver for completionists.  I think the $3 price may prevent many gamers from buying it, but if you’re not poor and don’t feel like rooting through the Web to find guides, then this is the solution for you.  Only negative is that it remains on at all times, so it’ll drain your iPad/iPhone battery very quickly if you don’t kill the app.  After about 2 – 3 hours my fully charged iPad 2 lost about half of its charge while using the Dead Island Map App.
