Today the final trailer for Deadpool 2 was released, so naturally I had to give my feeble attempt at breaking it down to provide plot speculations and insights into things one may have missed while first watching it. The trailer was heavy on action, but also heavy on X-Force, because it shows off how Deadpool recruits the squad, and of course what the squad can do when unleashed on some evil doers. This trailer also sets up the main plot thread of Cable coming from the future to kill a kid who I’m guessing does some really shady shit to mutants when he gets older, which requires Cable to go all T-800 on his ass by traveling back in time to snuff him out. Due to this, there are plenty of Deadpool v Cable action sequences contained within this final preview of the film.
You can check out the breakdown above. Below I have jotted down my basic plot synopsis based on what we got from this trailer, as well as the others. It’s probably 90% wrong, but that’s what makes geek speculations so much fun, so check it out and let me know what you think.
Deadpool 2 Plot Synopsis Speculation
The movie will open and catch us up on what Deadpool has been up to since we last saw him. Eventually Cable will arrive, which will shift the plot towards the bulk of the sequel’s narrative. We will get an action sequence or two, but early on he’ll be clued into the mutant kid that Cable wants, so his focus and the film’s will shift to this plot. Somehow the kid will be arrested and locked away in a mutant prison, possibly after his powers pop off in public while Cable is pursuing him? Either way, Deadpool willingly, or through something he does, also gets locked up so he can keep protecting the kid. Cable will break into the prison and the two will fight again. Deadpool will escape thanks to the kid blowing him out of the facility, but Cable will not get the kid either. The kid will then be transported somewhere else, which is the mission Deadpool will form X-Force for. They will attack said convoy, Cable will too, which will cause more fights and explosions and the convoy to crash. Just when it appears Cable and Deadpool are at an impasse, the true bad guy/girl will be revealed, which will cause everyone who was previously trying to kill each other to team up and take on the ominous threat. They’ll win. The end.
