Death Star Minecraft Build – The Timelapse Edition

We’ve featured the work of the Paradise Decay YouTube channel many times before, mainly because the channel’s creator is a maestro when it comes to custom Minecraft builds. He’s taken it upon himself to fully recreate Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope in Minecraft, which could be the most ambitious Voxel based project of all-time.

Due to the fact that this project is very tedious and time consuming, PD will occasionally release update videos to give fans of his work a progress update of sorts. The latest update video features a time-lapse of his work in building the Death Star and its trenches as it was seen in A New Hope. The sheer complexity and attention to detail is mind-boggling while watching PD at work. He masterfully weaves block after block to faithfully bringing the Death Star to life based on the shots of it used in Lucas’ first Star Wars film.

This geeky project is worth checking out even if you’re not a Star Wars fan, or much of a gamer. It’s just neat to watch an artist at work who is melding two massive pop culture items together to create something amazing. Head on down past the break to see what it takes to build the Death Star in Minecraft.
