Bungie revealed that they will be recasting Destiny‘s most central-voiced character: The Ghost.
Who will now take on the roll? Peter Dinklage, originally cast for voice-acting, will now be replaced by none other than Nolan North.
Game Informer had reported that Nolan North was originally brought in for the upcoming expansion, The Taken King, but seeing how amazing he did, they decided to have North re-record all of the lines. For those of you who are familiar with Nolan’s previous work (Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed, and others), listening to his work in Destiny will make it difficult for you to connect to that familiarity.
“I was really excited to do this role,” North tells Game Informer. “You want to give him as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There’s a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it.”
Creative Director, Luke Smith, explains the vision of North’s Ghost: “We wanted Nolan North’s version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty.”
“They really wanted me to put my stamp on it,” North states. “They let me bring what I wanted to the role. You have to give it your own spin. For that reason, I specifically said I didn’t want to hear anything that someone else had done, so that I didn’t have some preconceived notion of what it has to be. Instead, I just gave it my stamp, and let them direct me accordingly.”
“Making you a better geek, one post at a time!”
