I’ve received some basic plot details about the next Superman movie, which is tentatively titled ‘Superman: Man of Steel’. The production will be a Legendary Films movie helmed by Zack Snyder, which should begin filming in Vancouver this June. The brief summary of the plot details are listed below, which comes from a reliable inside source:
ZACK SNYDER WILL HELM THIS NEW SUPERMAN REBOOT PRODUCED BY CHRISTOPHER NOLAN FROM A SCRIPT BY DAVID GOYER. CLARK KENT IS A FREELANCE REPORTER IN HIS EARLY 20’S, TRAVELING AROUND THE WORLD COVERING VARIOUS NEWS STORIES. HOWEVER, HE IS FORCED TO FLY BACK INTO ACTION TO CATCH A FLEEING ASSASSIN INSTEAD OF COVERING AN ETHNIC CONFLICT BETWEEN THE GHURI AND TURAABA CLANS IN WEST AFRICA. KENT THEN RETURNS TO SMALLVILLE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HIS ORIGINS AND BECOME THE HERO HE WAS BORN TO BE. EARLY.
It seems the new Superman film will feature a grown Clark Kent who may not fully understand his role on Earth. It sounds familiar to the Smallville TV series, which features a young Clark who hasn’t fully accepted his role as Superman quite yet. ‘Superman: Man of Steel’ will hopefully flesh out some of Clark’s back story with a return to Smallville as proposed in the plot outline above. For the most part Superman’s time in Smallville is a mystery in the films, so it could be a nice way to see how this small Kansas town shaped Kal-el into the tight wearing super-hero of Metropolis City.
The plot seems intriguing, so hopefully it’ll be executed with the grace of the recent Batman reboots. Luckily, Christopher Nolan and his gang of movie makers are involved, so hopefully the magic he has shown in other comic-book movies becomes evident in this Superman reboot. Stay tuned for more details. You’ve been hoping for a darker Superman movie…
