Download the Dwarve’s Misty Mountain Song From The Hobbit Trailer

[UPDATE] The movie is finally here, and we went to see it.  Make sure to check out our review here.

If you’re like me and have watched The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey trailer multiple times since its Tuesday night release, then you may have that catchy song stuck in your head that the Dwarves were singing.  I know I did, so like any good Entertainment Buddha would, I went ahead and found the audio for the Misty Mountain tune that the Dwarves rock out to in the Hobbit trailer.

I initially found a YouTube video from ahmedzeeshan that had trimmed the trailer down to just the song’s duration.  I then took things a bit further and actually stripped the audio from the video to create a .MP3 file for your downloading pleasure.  Obviously, if Howard Shore’s full soundtrack were already available for purchase I’d point you in that direction, but it is not, so we’re doing a little old school bootlegging.  Please head on past the break to download the .MP3 file of the Dwarven song, or to watch the trimmed trailer clip that only shows the Dwarves belting this little diddy out.  You’ve not been able to stop chanting this awesome Tolkien tune…

Lyrics

Far over the Misty Mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old.
The pines were roaring on the height,
The winds were moaning in the night,
The fire was red, it flaming spread,
The trees like torches blazed with light.

    Far over the misty mountains cold
    To dungeons deep and caverns old
    We must away ere break of day
    To seek the pale enchanted gold.
    The dwarves of yore made mightly spells,
    While hammers fell like ringing bells
    In places deep, where dark things sleep,
    In hollow halls beneath the fells.

    For ancient king and elvish lord
    There many a gleaming golden hoard
    They shaped and wrought, and light they caught
    To hide in gems on hilt of sward.
    On silver necklaces they strung
    The flowering stars, on crowns they hung
    The dragon-fire, in twisted wire
    They meshed the light of moon and sun.
    Far over the misty mountains cold
    To dungeouns deep and caverns old
    We must away, ere break of day,
    To claim our long-forgotten gold.

    Goblets they carved there for themselves
    And harps of gold; where no man delves
    There lay they long, and many a song
    Was sung unheard by men or elves.
    The pines were roaring on the height,
    The winds were moaning in the night,
    The fire was red, it flaming spread;
    The trees like torches blazed with light.
    The bells were ringing in the dale
    And men looked up with faces pale;
    The dragon’s ire more fierce than fire
    Laid low their towers and houses frail.

    The mountain smoked beneath the moon;
    The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom.
    They fled their hall to dying fall
    Beneath his feet, beneath the moon.

    Far over the misty mountains grim
    To dungeons deep and caverns dim
    We must away, ere break of day,
    To win our harps and gold from him!

    The pines were roaring on the height,
    The winds were moaning in the night,
    The fire was red, it flaming spread;
    The trees like torches blazed with light.
    The bells were ringing in the dale
    And men looked up with faces pale;
    The dragon’s ire more fierce than fire
    Laid low their towers and houses frail.
