Ewan McGregor Wants to Portray Old Ben of the Dune Sea

The latest celebrity to offer up their two cents on the future of the Disney led Star Wars projects is none other than young Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, Ewan McGregor.  During his promotional tour for Jack the Giant Slayer he told MTV that he would indeed like to play Obi-Wan Kenobi again in a spin-off Star Wars movie similar to the rumored Han Solo and Boba Fett projects.  He even has a pitch for the film, which goes something like this:

“I think it’s a good idea. The only bit that I could get away with doing is after the last one I made, ‘Episode III,’ before Alec Guinness [played Obi-Wan in the original films], there’s that period where he’s in the desert.

That might be my window, there, to tell that story. I don’t know what he did in the desert. We could make up some stuff. Could be quite exciting. I’d be up for it, for sure, of course.”

To be honest with you I think he’s onto something here.  I would totally watch the tales of Old Ben and his life on Tatooine living in the Dune Sea.  We could see what he was up to in that hovel of his, and how he kept watch over a young Luke Skywalker.  Maybe we’d even get to see why Luke’s Uncle Owen disliked Old Ben so much, and called him a crazy old wizard.

Not that this is going to become a reality (yet), but if it did how would you feel about it?  Ewan is one of the brighter spots from the crappy prequels, so I think he’d do Obi justice once more.  Let us know what you think by leaving a comment down below.  You’ve been thinking there’s going to be 500 Star Wars movies by the time Disney is done with their project…
