Aeria Games has officially unveiled the website for F.E.A.R. Online, which is a free-to-play shooter based on the popular F.E.A.R. franchise.

The game is being developed by Inplay Interactive, and will sport team-based combat. Gamers will have to choose between the Armacham Technology Corporation faction, and the F.E.A.R. task force as they prepare to wage intense online warfare with the opposing team. Fans of the series will also get to see Point Man and Michael Beckett, but from the sound of the press release it seems as if they will be NPCs, and not playable characters.

F.E.A.R. Online offers traditional team deathmatch and demolition game types, as well as a few unique modes. These modes will feature the fan favorite Soul King game type, Escape, and finally a brand new mode called Armored Front. This game type will provide a mech for each team to use to help turn the tide of the battle.

If this free game sounds intriguing, then you should head on over to the website to register for the closed beta. There’s also four new preview screens showcasing the visual style of the game that you can preview after the break.

F.E.A.R. Online doesn’t have an official release date yet, so your best bet to get in on the action is to sign up for the beta using the previous link.
