Fan Animated Game of Thrones Prequel Shows How the Dragonlords Came to Be

Patrick McCarthy is an aspiring writer/director who just may get the attention he is looking for thanks to an animated Game of Thrones prequel short he released on YouTube. The short is titled, “Doom of Valyria”, and it is a pitch to HBO for the type of Game of Thrones prequel Patrick thinks they should pursue.

In the 20-minute short you’ll get to see how the Dragonlords came to be thanks to their deal with a firey spirit, as well as how Valyria fell. Considering that George is seemingly never going to finish writing the last two books of his A Song of Ice and Fire masterpiece, I’m just fine settling for fans creating new properties like this to explore the lore of Westeros and Essos.

Head on up above to check out the short, which really isn’t. Even if you don’t dig GoT you should still appreciate that one man animated this whole damn thing, which is a feat in and of itself.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO this Sunday!
