Final Fantasy VII Remake – Unreal Engine Dev Interview

Like they say in the video, it’s no secret that Final Fantasy VII Remake is one of the most talked about games of E3. The original game is one of the most cherished and celebrated games of all time, and remains relevant and engrossing to play 20+ years later.

In this interview, we get to hear right from one of devs a little bit about the game that you might not have gathered if you haven’t played the demo at E3. The battles will play a bit like they did in FF XV, which is fine, honestly, I enjoyed the combat in that game. In this game, you use basic attacks to fill a gauge that’ll let you use a character’s skills. I’m not totally sure if that simply means limit breaks or being able to use magic and whatnot too. The demo at E3 allows people to fight the first boss in the game, which has been featured heavily in the marketing for the game.

It sounds like the traversal will also be very similar and we’ll be seeing way more of Midgar this time around, and obviously in way higher detail. It remains to be seen if it’s going to be as open as FFXV, though that would be pretty cool, there’s so much to explore and see there! Check out the interview above and let us know what you think!
