Vince Zampella and Jason West, the executives fired from Infinity Ward by Activision, have landed on their feet like most insiders expected. Today they announced the creation of their new studio, Respawn Entertainment, which will be part of the EA Partners network. This deal with EA will leave them with complete control over the creative process when it comes to making original games.
I guess that was the biggest beef the two had with Activision. They didn’t feel like they had anymore control over their babies that they created while under the Activision banner. It’s still a shame that their former studio, Infinity Ward, won’t be making any further Call of Duty titles, but I’d bet my right testicle that their new studio will create a must-have gaming franchise in the future. Cheers to the thought of being creative without the suits of Corporate America sucking it all out of your soul! Go geeks go!
