The head honchos at Fox have released a short promotional video for Rise of the Planet of the Apes which features Andy Serkis’ performance as a CG Caesar.  This is a move to help promote their case that Serkis should be considered for an Oscar even though he’s never seen in person in the movie.  I for one wholeheartedly agree with their plea.  Rise was my top movie of the Summer, and a big reason for that was Andy’s compelling digital performance as the ape who freed them all.  Hopefully those at the Academy can get over themselves and see past the fact that Serkis technically wasn’t in the movie, because he does deserve recognition.  The guy has been a CG stud ever since his days as Gollum, so it’s time to reward him for his unique skills.  Check out Fox’s case for Serkis to get an Oscar nomination below.  You’ve been needing to watch this movie if you haven’t already…
