G4TV will begin airing two Marvel cartoon series on July 29, 2011, which will feature Iron Man and Wolverine. Iron Man will debut at 11PM on the 29th, and Wolverine will air after that at 11:30PM. Both of these excellent looking animated series will run for 12 episodes each, and they feature the voice talents of some former TV superheroes in Adrian Pasdar and Milo Ventimiglia of “Heroes” fame. They both look excellent, and will undoubtedly be added to my DVR lineup. To be honest with you I’ve been digging all of the DC Comics animated shorts and movies, so I’m eager to see what the Marvel Universe can provide.
I have enjoyed the Joss Whedon produced ‘Astonishing X-Men’ motion comic series, and the ‘Iron Man: Extremis’ series, which are both available on the Netflix Instant Queue (X-Men also available on Hulu), so I’m hoping these Marvel animated series on G4 will bring the same type of enjoyment. I don’t think that will be an issue considering that Warren Ellis will be involved with the G4 Marvel cartoons, because he also had a hand in both of the projects I mentioned above. I really dig Ellis’ visual style in the motion comic series that I’ve seen, and from what I’ve viewed from the G4 series it is in line with his previous works.
If the Iron Man and Wolverine G4 cartoons have you excited then get ready to pop a stiffy, because later in 2011 two additional Marvel series will debut featuring Blade and the X-Men. Between the Iron Man, Wolverine, Blade, and X-Men cartoons, comic book geeks will get a whopping dose of superhero goodness in 2011. You can expect 48 total episodes split between the four series, with the first 24 coming in July with Iron Man and Wolverine, and the last 24 with Blade and X-Men. To get yourself pumped up for this Marvel animated goodness check out the trailers below. You’ve been given something to watch that doesn’t suck…
