Gaming Roundup: Yooka-Laylee, Civilization VI, and an Upcoming Gears of War Art Exhibit

As we near the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, more and more information on upcoming game titles is pouring out of the industry to satiate our amalgamated anticipation. Whether you need to scratch that platforming itch with Banjo Kazooie‘s spiritual successor Yooka-Laylee or feel compelled to create the ultimate fusion of strategy, culture, and warfare with Civilization VI, there’s a recent new unveiling that will surely pique your interest. Hell, there’s even an art exhibit dedicated to Gears of War on the horizon, so all you art nerds (myself included) should definitely keep scrolling. With so much to tell you lovely folks we’ve decided to lump ’em all into one post totally for your convenience.

Yooka-Laylee made quite a splash at one of the biggest gaming events in the UK, EGX. Developer Team 17 recently unveiled a character trailer to give you a glimpse into the world of wild personalities that lie await in the hotly anticipated platformer. There’s even a special guest renown for his previous platforming endeavors that makes an entrance at the end.

Civilization VI recently shed some light on the culture of Sumeria lead by none other than the one and only Gilgamesh. The recently released trailer gives us a first look into what to expect when playing the particular civilization, and the exclusive perks and characteristics of Sumeria’s units and buildings look to make as big of an impact as Gilgamesh himself once did so many years ago.

Come October 1, concept art and other visual works inspired by Gears of War 4 is being displayed in its own art exhibition at the Nucleus Gallery in the Los Angeles area. Door and raffle prizes, artist appearance, and complete replicas of the series’ COG armor is enough to garner interest from damn near anyone who even barely appreciates a good piece of artwork. Keep an eye on Entertainment Buddha for upcoming news as we near the holidays. This is merely the beginning of the flood.
