Gears of War 3 Adds 3D Support, Time for a New HDTV!

I’ve been slightly jonesing for a new HDTV that has 3D capabilities, but have yet to pull the trigger mainly due to the fact that I’ve given Apple a few thousand dollars over the past months out of my gadget allowance.  Well I may have to break into my piggy bank now because Epic has just announced that Gears of War 3 will have support for 3D!  Ahhhhhhhhh!  Chainsaw kills in the 3rd dimension!!!  Gnasher giblet pieces in 3D!!!  OMG!!

Ok, now that I’ve gotten that out of my system lets get down to some details.  Unfortunately, due to the fact that Epic decided to add 3D support late in the game the 3D mode won’t support full HD resolution.  Rod Fergusson said, “Instead of 720p you’re at five something, it’s a little bit jaggier in certain areas.”  Ouch!  But I’ll be honest, I would still like to play this game at least once in 3D.  Even if the 3D was brought in post conversion style I still think it’ll look money while I’m chainsawing a Locust’s face off, or insta-gibbing a fool with the shotty.  It looks like I’m going to have to do some intense research on those newer LG 3D TV’s that don’t require expensive glasses to use.  I guess demoing one this past weekend was meant to be after all!  You’ve started a countdown clock to see how long it takes before the EB buys a 3D HDTV…
