Gears of War 5 Arcade Mode Detailed in New Trailer

A new video for Gears of War 5 has been released, and it introduces the game’s new Arcade mode, which features class-based, drop-in/drop-out action. This mode will also be in the upcoming Tech Test scheduled for the game on July 19. Those who have pre-ordered the game, or own the Xbox Game Pass, will get access to the tech test.

Arcade mode will feature classes like Sniper, CQB, Support, Heavy, and Hunter. Both the COGs and Swarm will have corresponding characters that fill each role. The Tech Test will feature five heroes from each faction to use.

Details on the classes can be found below:

HUNTER – KAIT / SWARM HUNTER

  • Passive: Increased Movement Speed
  • Bounty: Execute for an additional Skull
  • Loadout: Hammerburst, Talon Autopistol, Smoke Grenade
  • Upgrades: Boltok, Incendiary Grenades, Torque Bow

SUPPORT – JD / SWARM DRONE

  • Passive: Spot enemies who damage you. Enemies you spot reward health to killer.
  • Bounty: Multi-kill for an additional Skull.
  • Loadout: Lancer, Snub Pistol, Flashbangs
  • Upgrades: 3 Random Weapon upgrade slots of varying quality

HEAVY – DEL / SCION 

  • Passive: Receive Stim(Extra health above the normal maximum) for Kills 
  • Bounty: Multi-kill for an additional Skull
  • Loadout: Hammerburst, Talon Autopistol
  • Upgrades: Buzzkill, Mulcher, RL-4 Salvo

CQB – MARCUS / SWARM GRENADIER

  • Passive: Cover slide speed and distance increased
  • Bounty: Execute for an additional Skull
  • Loadout: Enforcer, Snub Pistol, Smoke Grenade
  • Upgrades: Shock Grenades, Gnasher, Breaker Mace

SNIPER – FAHZ / SWARM SNIPER

  • Passive: Immune to flinching when ADS or fully scoped
  • Bounty: Headshot kill for an additional Skull 
  • Loadout: Lancer, Talon Autopistol, Flashbang
  • Upgrades: Boltok, Marzka, Longshot
