Geek Art: Star Wars Gets Contemporary

AUGIE-PAGAN-VADERS-ANATOMY

Star Wars is a mega successful franchise that is loved by most geeks of all ages. Since the film was released in 1977 it has been a part of our pop culture, and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere fast. Fans have found all sorts of ways to showcase their love for Star Wars over the years, and one of the most popular mediums seems to be art.

A new art show is being featured at the Ltd. Art Gallery in Seattle that features some of the best art pieces dedicated to the Star Wars franchise. Most of the works of art may not be fan made, because a few are from big name artists, but the pure love for Star Wars and its characters can be seen in each piece regardless. They each offer a unique take, featuring movie mash-ups to a 1940’s movie posters feel. Some even opted for a more dramatic take on the subject matter.

Take Kelly Kerrigan’s piece, she mashed up Marty McFly and a stormtrooper. Her piece is very contemporary and modern, perfect for any fan of both Star Wars and Back to The Future. Whatever your taste is it’s obvious that there is a little something for everyone.

If you’re a connoisseur of geek art, then don’t miss the opportunity to see some of these original pieces at the Ltd. Art Gallery. Head on down below to check out some awesome Star Wars geek art!

Now If only I just happen to live in Seattle. As always, may the force be with you.

The author Ana Febo

Ana lives in Orlando, FL with her husband and two dogs; Miles and Jello. She is possibly a Cylon. Devoted a piece of her skin to a Destiny tattoo and has a long term plan of cosplayjng as a Bioshock Splicer or Warlock at some point. Her prized possession is an autograph from Robert Englund welcoming her to prime time. Favorite games include those mentioned above, Aladdin for SNES, losing her life to Animal Crossing and the good Resident Evil games. Saga comics are an unequivocal recommendation. She recently wrapped up yet another viewing of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
