It seems that the Star Wars YouTube channel is back in the Lucasfilm vaults to find little nuggets to share with fans while they wait for Star Wars Episode VII to be released. The latest nostalgic gem that the channel dug up is the original trailer for The Empire Strikes Back. Once again it’s amazing to see what trailers used to look and sound like compared to the big-budget previews we see today. You’ll notice in the ESB trailer below that it doesn’t feature a single bit of footage from the film, but rather it showcases art assets that George and company used to define the visual style of the sequel.
It’s pure old school Star Wars, so if you’ve been burnt out on the CGI-laden Star Wars films from the prequels, and George’s bastardizations of his original trilogy, then you can recapture some of your fond Star Wars memories by checking out the ESB trailer re-release after the break.
