Get Your First Look at the Star Wars Resistance Anime Series With New Trailer

Disney has posted a first look trailer for Star Wars Resistance, which is a new cartoon series coming to the network this fall. The trailer provides fans with an overview of what the show will be about, but it also for the first time showcases the anime-style animation that it uses, which is a first for a Star Wars animated series. Most of the other animated shows that have been released have used CGI animations, or more traditional looking animations, so the look of Resistance is definitely fresh for the franchise.

After checking it out my excitement for the show has increased ten fold. I’ve been a huge supporter of animated Star Wars shows ever since the release of Star Wars The Clone Wars, so I’m eager to check out this new style of show that aims to tell stories that take place after Return of the Jedi, but before the events of The Force Awakens. What’s even cooler is that the actual actors from the new trilogy will be voicing their characters in the series, so expect to hear Oscar Isaacs and at least Gwendoline Christie bring their respective Star Wars characters to life in Resistance.

The show is set to premiere on October 7, 2018 at 10p on the Disney Channel, which is a weird ass time slot for it, but that’s how it has been scheduled. Check out the trailer above.
