Rumors are swirling about the possible buyout of the live game-streaming site, Twitch.

Reports indicate that Google is behind the likely purchase, which will be run by Google-owned YouTube. It’s estimated that the buyout will be in the $1 billion range, as Google looks to expand its internet horizon. If this purchase goes through, Google estimates that ad revenues on Twitch alone could bring in $200 million a year based on current levels.

This, of course, doesn’t take into account the growing popularity or Twitch, so the numbers could be even higher. Twitch also offers subscriptions, which if just 5% of viewers of the site subscribe could generate another $200 million. Twitch has claimed that it has 45 million users, with 1 million users uploading videos.
