HBO Announces Home Release Date for ‘True Detective’ Season 2

The second season of True Detective may have hit a nerve with some viewers with its twisting conversation and plot paths, but now those who want to give it a second viewing won’t have to wait long.

HBO announced that True Detective: The Complete Second Season will be available for digital download on November 9th, with the Blu-ray and DVD releases coming on January 5th, 2016. Fans can also buy a Season Pass, which will provide download codes on November 9th and also Blu-ray/DVD samples closer to the January release.

Blu-ray and DVD bonus content includes the making of The Vinci Massacre, a 30-minute feature about the production of the pivotal episode 4 (also available with the early digital release). There’s also aerial images of California landscapes scored by T Bone Burnett (also available on the early digital release), and audio commentaries featuring Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, creator Nic Pizzolatto, and executive producer Scott Stephens (not available with the early digital release).

The early digital release is $22.99 SD and $29.99 HD. The Blu-ray will go for $79.98 and the DVD is set at $59.99.
