Microsoft has released a new video for Ryse: Son of Rome that recounts the tale of Damocles, a wronged Roman general who gets sent back from the dead to ensure that soldiers never betray each other in battle. Damocles’ tale is told in a visceral manner with stylized violence taking center stage, and it just may remind you of the brilliant, but short lived Spartacus TV series on Starz.
The reason this video was released for Ryse is because Marius, the game’s protagonist, will have his journey influenced in some way by the spirit, or tale of Damocles. This makes perfect sense considering that Marius is a prominent fixture in the Roman Legions, which would most definitely indicate that he’s heard the tale of Damocles, and yields to its message. Head on down below to check out the ultra-violent video, as well as a new story trailer for the game, and some new screenshots.
Ryse: Son of Rome is a Xbox One exclusive that is launching alongside the console on November 22, 2013.
