Hellblade Explores Mental Illness, Gets New Trailer

Hellblade, the upcoming action game from developer Ninja Theory, has recieved a new trailer and some interesting thematic details today.

According to Ninja Theory, Hellblade will deal with the concepts of mental illness, as the game’s protagonist, Senua, attempts to cope with traumatic events of her past. In Hellblade, Senua has been left scarred from the rampaging vikings that raided her Celtic home.

It’s an interesting idea, to be sure, and it seems that Ninja Theory have every intent on addressing mental illness in an informed way. Throughout development, the team have been working alongside various professors and psychiatrists, in order to fully understand and present such touchy topics.

The Hellblade trailer, seen above, gives gamers a clue as to how dark and generally unsettling the game is shaping up to be.

Hellblade will release on the PlayStation 4 and PC in 2016.
