It appears dreams do still come true for a few lucky humans in the world, because today via Instagram, Henry Cavill revealed that he’s been cast as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher series. For those unfamiliar with the situation, Cavill has openly said on social media that he wanted to play Geralt when the series was announced, and fans got behind him with various bits of art to support his cause (see below).

Now today it seems he’s been officially cast, which he cheekily announced on his Instagram account while pulling up Netflix to watch. The Witcher will be based on CD Projekt Red’s video game franchise of the same name, which has gone on to feature three full games, and the GWENT card game. It’s a rather rich franchise set during fantastical times featuring monsters, mages, and of course Witchers, who are basically superheroes with both magical and physical gifts.
This will surely be an interesting series, and Cavill’s inclusion gives it a face, so stay tuned for more details as they become available.
