Hobbit’s in HD: Hairy Feet Never Looked so Clear!

Recently I gushed over Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings film adaptations, and how magnificent they were.  Unfortunately, none of us have been able to watch these films in true HD yet.  I mean they’ve been aired on TV in HD, but who wants to watch an already long movie on TV with commercials?  Movies on TV blow, so don’t pretend they don’t.  I can tell you that the EB does not, so it excites me to say that the release of the 3 films on Blu-ray is nigh.

The theatrical versions will be released on Blu-ray on April 6, 2010.  I’ve seen prices as low as $63.99 and as high as $99.98.  I’m going to go with the cheaper version which can be found in my Amazon store.  These are just the theatrical versions, the super extended 4 hour versions will be available at a later date[slider title=”.”]This practice of re-releasing films on different versions with more scenes to bilk fans for more money is starting to bother me.  Blu-rays hold 50GB of data.  Put both of the versions on one set and charge slightly more for it.  Don’t release one version and then wait a few months and release the other version.  It’s bullshit and your preying on your fans love for your product.[/slider]  Regardless, I’m still ready to return to Middle-Earth and watch one of the best trilogies of all-time.

You’ve been enlightened…
