The futuristic game that first made an appearance in Star Wars: A New Hope is coming to the masses. Visual Effects Director Phil Tippett – who introduced the world to Holo Chess – is hoping to bring a version of the game to life in HoloGrid: Monster Battle. The game is a hybrid that uses physical cards to trigger Augmented Reality creatures on a game board that features a variety of unique creatures battling one another.
In celebration of Star Wars day today, Tippett and developer HappyGiant have opened a Kickstarter campaign to help make this game a reality so fans can watch their creatures duke it out on the game board. HoloGrid: Monster Battle recently won Best Technology at the 2016 Pax East conference, and with Tippett’s experience and imagination, this game for next gen AR and VR platforms is set to offer an entirely new gaming experience for fans. Just remember to let the Wookie win.
