HTC Evo 3D and EVO Tablet Possibly Being Unveiled at CTIA

The Boy Genius Report has more or less confirmed that the follow up to Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G smartphone may indeed be a 3D enhanced version.  3-f*cking-D on a phone?  Well hell yeah!  Why Not?  It sounds pretty awesome to me, and could be the beginning of a long line of personal 3D products that gives each of us geeks a Jedi like holopad.  I should have a much better impression of 3D on the go when I get my Nintendo 3DS, but the thought of seeing another dimension on my phone has me chubbed up.

The rumored HTC EVO 3D is said to have a 960×450 autostereoscopic 3D display, 1GB of RAM, a 1.2 GHz dual-core cpu, and surprisingly only 4GB of HDD space.  Outside of the meager storage I’d say the specs are on par with the current line-up of 2011 Android devices.  I already feel gadget envy and I just got a new HTC Thunderbolt!  See, people like me will never ultimately be content with our toys, especially when the tech changes nearly ever 6 months.  Oh well, that’s why you can’t sit around and wait, or you’ll never move on from your whimpy 3G smartphone.

On a less awesome note BGR also stated that the EVO tablet may be introduced alongside the 3D EVO phone.  The tablet has specs that are very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Tab.  It’ll boast a 7″ screen at a 1024×600 resolution, 5 MP rear camera, 1.3 MP front camera, a 4000 mAh, and HDMI out.  Nothing too impressive, but after my visit to Verizon yesterday I’m pining for a tablet now more than ever.  Even though this rumored EVO Tablet is only 7″ it doesn’t mean it’s going to blow.  I played with the Galaxy Tab, which is the same size, and it’s still a great device.

I just don’t know who to go with in this arena.  I know the iPad 2 is a stellar piece of machinery, but I’m still holding out for the ultimate Android based tablet.  I’m just too heavily entrenched in the Google camp at this point, but if it takes too long I know my impatient a*s will get an iPad 2.  What a great time to be a gadget geek my friends!  Hopefully you’ve got the wallet to back up your obsession, because it could be an expensive year to be a geek.  You’ve been wanting a hologram projector ever since you heard Leia ask Obi-Wan Kenobi for some help…
