Indiana Jones 5 On Track to Begin Shooting April of 2019
At the Empire Awards this past weekend Director Steven Spielberg confirmed that his next project is indeed Indiana Jones 5, and that it will start filming in the U.K. in April of 2019.
While speaking at the awards Spielberg said, “It’s always worth the trip when I get to work with this deep bench of talent coming out of the U.K.. The actors, and the crew, the chippies, the sparks, the drivers — everybody who has helped me make my movies here, and will continue helping me make my movies here when I come back in April 2019 to make the fifth Indiana Jones movie right here.” I would say that statement pretty much solidifies that Indy 5 is on the horizon, and that Spielberg will be getting to work on it shortly after the debut of Ready Player One. With principal photography slated for April of 2019, the film should still hit its proposed July 2020 release window.
Harrison Ford will reprise the role of Indiana Jones, so one would think this may be a slightly less action intense take on the character, but you never know. Ford did look a bit his age during action sequences in Blade Runner 2048, but I don’t even think that matters, because he’s Harrison Ford. I just hope they don’t ask him to be the Indy of the 80’s and 90’s, because that may look a little ridiculous now that the man playing the character is in his 70s.
