Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is celebrating the one year anniversary of Injustice: Gods Among Us Mobile’s release in style. To commemorate the 2 billion matches played milestone NetherRealm has added a whole new multiplayer mode to this addicting mobile fighter game, which will allow players to compete agains their friends for the top spot on the game’s new leaderboards. A new multiplayer mode trailer (above) and 1-year anniversary infographic (below) have been released in honor of Injustice: Gods Among Us Mobile’s highly successful first year of existence.
Players who opt for the new multiplayer action must build a team for use in the online battle arena. This team can then compete against other player’s teams in the new multiplayer mode. Unfortunately, these battles won’t take place between two actual humans. Both team’s will actually be controlled by AI, but the characters will have all of the buffs and upgrades that the player previously unlocked. Players can then watch how the matches played out in the game’s Match Replay system to study their team’s strengths and weaknesses. If you win one of these multiplayer matches you’ll be awarded Multiplayer Points, which will determine your place on the weekly leaderboards. Depending on your final position you could reap new upgrades and gear to equip your squad with.
In addition to the new multiplayer mode in Injustice: Gods Among Us Mobile brand new Gold Characters, increased promotion and level caps, a new Challenge Character Booster Pack, and Bonus Missions will all be added with the multiplayer update. At this time the Android version isn’t set to receive this new mode until May, but the iOS version should be ready to roll today.
