iOS 5 and Lion Updates Taking Forever to Download

If you’re one of the millions of Apple users trying to update your lovely little toys today you might as well hold off, because at this moment the entire world is trying to download the iOS 5 and Mac OS x Lion updates.  The iOS 5 update seems to download faster than the Lion updates, which are clocking in at a staggering 97 hour wait time!  Obviously this is because every fanboy and their pet monkey immediately tried to pull these updates when they released around 1P EST, so the downloads will get better over time.  Although, I probably wouldn’t try to download these updates if you need to go anywhere in the next few hours.  This isn’t looking like a quick process at this particular time.

I’m trying to convince myself that not being able to download them at work is a good thing because it’s so slow, but deep down I’m not kidding anyone.  I’d love to get to some iOS 5 action, but I don’t want to seize the old work network.  It doesn’t look good on resumes when you get canned for bringing down a network due to personal updates.  If you’re experiencing long waits please let us know the time frame that the downloader is giving you.  Hopefully when I’m able to tonight the mad rush will be over, but for now don’t expect the iOS 5 and Mac OS X Lion updates to download faster than you can say broadband.  Keep us informed!  You’ve been thinking Apple needs more servers…
