J.J. Abrams Discusses the Most Tragic Scene in ‘The Force Awakens’

It’s been almost a year since J.J. Abrams smashed box offices with the fury of a thousand Wookies with The Force Awakens. Last December saw the release of the new Star Wars canon introduced new rebels and villains that set the stage for upcoming film. It was a passing of the torch if there ever was one.

Maybe it’s taken you the past ten months to come to terms with the result of the Han Solo’s father/son chat with Kylo Ren. Ren was this close to switching sides and preemptively nulling the  continuity of Darth Vader’s teachings, but alas, no dice. In a new video to promote the upcoming 3D release of the film, J.J. Abrams offers some commentary on the staggering scene that set the tone and released Harrison Ford from future Star Wars commitments:

The new release includes more commentary, and also features a deleted Chewbacca scene that fans will enjoy. The 3D collector’s edition will be available on October 31st internationally, and on November 15th in the U.S.
