J.J. Abrams Tweets First Set Pic from Star Wars: Episode IX
Principal photography for Star Wars: Episode IX is now underway. Earlier we shared a few pictures and a video of John Boyega working out in the Star Wars gym, but now we have the first official tweet from J.J. Abrams — literally his first tweet ever — from the set.
The image to me looks like the shot is of Finn and possibly Rey in the cockpit of the Falcon, but I could be wrong. Finn is definitely in it, and he’s wearing a vest of sorts over a black shirt. The other person in the shot is more than likely Rey, but their face is covered by the big ass camera shooting the scene.
Bittersweet starting this next chapter without Carrie, but thanks to an extraordinary cast and crew, we are ready to go. Grateful for @rianjohnson and special thanks to George Lucas for creating this incredible world and beginning a story of which we are lucky to be a part. #IX pic.twitter.com/FOfnGwVut5

I hope this is a sign of things to come, and that J.J., like Rian Johnson and Ron Howard before him, starts dropping little set nuggets throughout the shoot. I love to speculate on all things Star Wars, so getting shots like this will definitely fuel some conversations on our Star Wars Time podcast. Stay tuned for all things Episode IX as they become available.
